Why the roofline and not somewhere else
From the street, what you actually see at night is an outline, and the roof draws it. Nothing else on the house gives you that much unbroken length, and nothing else is backed by open air. Put light on it and the outline comes back, which is most of what people mean when they say a house looks good lit. That is the reason the roofline gets the hardware, and why one line up there outperforms a dozen fixtures at ground level. One continuous line, installed one time, carrying the whole outline: that is the argument.
What roofline lighting is made of
The system is a slim aluminum track, matched to your trim color, with the LEDs running inside it. That channel is doing two things, carrying the LEDs and keeping the daytime look clean. Because it matches the trim, you generally have to be told where it is.
Not every edge needs it
Every plan starts with the primary roof edge, and works outward. After the main line come the peaks, the entry and the porch roof, added only where it adds something. Outline everything and you end up with a shape and no depth, which is the usual mistake. The run itself is worth looking at closely on a finished job, because a straight line held over a long span is harder than it looks.
What it looks like with the lights off
A roofline system is visible twelve months a year whether it is on or not. Matching the channel to your trim color is not a cosmetic afterthought, it is the thing
https://evercrestlighting.com/about/ that keeps the house looking like a house in July. Tight to the line, matched to trim, wire tucked: that is a clean install.
One line, a lot of uses
After install the system runs from your phone. Warm white on a normal night. Red and green in December. A single color for Halloween. Team colors before a game. The setting that gets the most hours is the warm white, which is not what most buyers expect going in.
What makes one roofline a bigger job than the house next door
Rooflines are not comparable by square footage. Linear feet is the first one, though it is rarely what separates two quotes. Every direction change is another cut, another fitting and another decision. Two stories is a different day than one.
Does it attach to the gutter?
Homeowners assume the lights clip to the gutter, because that is how seasonal strands work. A permanent channel is a different arrangement. That distinction matters since a gutter is not a permanent mounting point, and anything fastened to one inherits its problems.
